Ouote of the day:  Those who have one foot in the canoe and one foot in the boat, are going to fall in the river! -  Tuscarora.
Schooldays, well mine I suppose weren't too bad, but I wouldn't like to return to them!  I also believe that the teachers who teach you, do make an impression on you for good or bad for the rest of your life. I can only remember the teachers who were my favourites.  Unfortunately, there were only three, considering that I had been to schools all over England.
The first teacher, she was crazy about puppets and we spent the whole school year making them and travelling round the locale, putting on puppet shows for the pupils of the various infants and junior schools.  I loved it, that was the best and magical year of my school life!  My mother on the other hand, did not let up from day one to moan and complain about my lack of education!  I didn't care I was very happy!
Moving up to secondary school, my next favourite teacher was
Miss Thomas, she is the only one whose name I remember, was Welsh and, boy did she have a temper!!  Her speciality in teaching was music and maths. Two subjects I did not like at all.  But when I came to leave this particular school to go to another, I came second in the class for both subjects, I could not believe it and needless to say my mother was over the moon although she was not to chuffed about me getting top marks for hygiene and religion.  In one of her moany moods, she was complaining to my friend and her mother and said, "what sort of job is she going to get with hygiene and religion!!"  My friend quickly piped up, "She's going to be a very clean nun!"
The third and last favourite teacher, was Australian, and he taught English, especially poetry.  This was another subject I thought of as 'ugh' but by the time I left school, I had completely changed my mind!

Oh and just for the record, I have to say, I decided not become the cleanest nun!!

We made the puppet heads out of papier mache, and for the bodies, legs and arms,  we rolled up appropriate sized pieces of newspaper and glued them together, then covered them with coloured tissue paper. Hands and feet were made out of plasticine and also covered with coloured tissue paper.  When the heads had hardened they were painted, the little costumes were made, and when the puppets were dressed, they were then strung up to the pieces of wood which were used to control them.

'That's the way to do it!'   'Be quiet, Punch!'
